Thanks for sending this on to me as I’m always curious what patients are reading and what influences their thoughts. I always like to keep my mind open. As my mentor, Dr. Don Coffey at Hopkins would say, ” The mind is like a parachute…it only works when it’s open.”
Is there a true potential for these chemicals…I’m curious but don’t think this proves much.
The process of finding the hidden keys to cancer takes painstaking working and decades of effort…..and moves forward inch by inch, year by year. The article you had referenced work from 2007, 2002, and 1974…..which is always a sign of something amiss. If this is work that matters…it should speak to 2015 and 2014……proving that it’s still relevant and that there are breaking findings right now in the field.
I appreciate your quest….but I think cancer is more complex than one can imagine, and that it will take herculean efforts to find specific cures for specific types of cancer…each different in it’s own way.
To see what I’m talking about…..this inspiring documentary covers two amazing advances…..first, the BRCA1 gene discovery….the breast cancer gene. The second, an amazing discovery of ‘the cure’ for a specific type of leukemia…AML…..that was once 100% fatal, and now is a chronic condition suppressed by a daily pill. These researchers are the hero’s of medicine and the amazing discoveries that inspire. Although I’d like to believe in ‘the cure’ for cancer, it’s clear that there are no simple solutions….just a lot of specific, challenging solutions that will take massive effort, money, and dedication to discover and develop.
Watch the documentary here …you are sure to be inspired by their dedication and success…for an MD or scientist…this is the type of film that brings tears to our eyes.
