AND IT’S CRISPR AGAIN…THIS TIME TO RESCUE US FROM MALARIA

insects-820484_640(1) copyBreeding infertility into the mosquitos that transmit malaria could be a simple fix for this world-wide killer of millions, and it’s coming to pass due to the genetic enigineering technique we have spoken of over and over again in the past months….CRISPR.

This time, scientists have figured out a way to pass on infertility genes to female mosquitos.  Normally these genes would be eliminated by natural selection, but by inserting the CRISPR gene  with the fertility gene, the scientists will circumvent the natural selection process and will breed in infertility.

If they can do it….should they?  This is a question being asked prior to rolling out this genetic change to the wild population of mosquitos in Africa.   Read more >>>>HERE<<<< about this amazing not genetic technology.
